O Henry

William Sydney Porter better known as O. Henry, has got some of the most amazing literary works credited to his name.

Right now I am reading his selected collection of short stories; around 51 short stories are there in all.

He has written about 400 short stories in his lifetime.

His each and every story is characterized by twist endings.

When you start a story you will be like what where is it heading, there is something that author is trying to say and sure enough at the end you come to know the essence of each character.

Each setting is different from one another; the characters are refreshingly simple yet have a meaningful existence in terms of the message that the author is trying to convey.

You can always be assured of a typical “O Henry ending”.

It will always be playful and optimistic making you smile at how a simple story can make such a profound impression on you.

Every character has been inspired by every day people and for each setting a section of the society has been chosen and has been wittingly described.

Wit that’s the 1st thing that hits you when you read his works, witty is the one word that’s present in abundance in his every work.

If any one can get a hold on any of his works then please do read it.

You will love it.

No body can escape the charm of his witty, playful, optimistic, simple and graceful style of writing.

Back with another set of thoughts….

Things taken for granted make sure they haunt us back in the form of longing….

A look that made you smile every day may not be there when you think you have it….

Dreaming is fair enough if coupled with some hard work….

Happiness does have a knack of coming up knocking your way when we are about to loose all hope…..

Solution is there for every apparently unsolvable problem……

Lazing around is the best way to skirt important work to be done….

Boredom is the best indication of how useless your routine has become….

Best way to tackle uselessness is to make you yourself useful in some way or the other….

Setting high goals does prepare one with satisfactory results….

No one is born with knowledge it can be garnered whenever you feel doing so….

It’s your business to find your strength at most you can find a guide for this purpose…

Excellent times have to be cherished because they sure not going to repeat that often…..

Period of lull to be looked upon with optimism for future and not with despair of the present……

Ultimate frustrated thoughts

Rusted brain which hasn’t been oiled for the past at least four to five years…

Vague idea about future… but firm on what not to do….

Pampered in small little ways….

Foolishly friendly to every other person but have found some gold coins on the way…

Clinging to things that are not supposed to be disturbed in the first place…

Whiling away the time for now yet no regrets….

No focus just lazy mindset….. with little upstarts in between to do some quality stuff…

One moment excessively happy next moment confused….

Desperately wants to be frank with oneself yet the evil ego comes in between…..

My Musings..

Behavior solely decides others attitude towards you.

To an extent at least, you see being nice doesn’t necessarily mean you will be treated equally nicely.

So I guess the foremost thing that one need to understand is that you yourself can only satisfy ones need.

Others may be able to compliment it, because what satisfies you is decided by you.

So raise the bar for yourself (so that you work hard to achieve your target) and lower the bar for others (waiting for others to do your job is plain laziness and foolishness on your part).

So called final year project ......

Last final semester and all I have done is time pass.

In between studied for may be 4 to 5 days during mid semester.

For rest I can safely say all I did was finding different ways to while away my time.

But all this was broken with the unexpected project presentation that was expected from morons like us who had done nothing to present.

Our project topic is fault detection using wavelet transform and all we had managed to understand so far was wavelet transform.

Every project session (which itself numbered very less) was marked by finding few more IEEE papers related to the research papers done in our topic without going through any of them.

Yet we were unperturbed by the prospect of the presentation, after all this whole thing was arranged for our juniors.

So with this happy thought we made an entire ppt with 32 slides and started reading serious stuff.

All this crashing down when we showed our ppt to our guide who clearly ordered us to change the whole damn ppt with more focus on the detection techniques.

This meant going through all the ieee papers.

Oh by the way before all this mess we did try genuinely to learn matlab to use it for analyzing signals.

But after one week we had to accept we have too less time to learn that properly.

So yesterday we went through all the detection techniques and found after all it’s not that bad.

Infact it is interesting for the most part.

After properly understanding we made slides which took us some 4 hours, and then our pc crashed so we lost all the slides.

We tried all possible options to retrieve the data but ended up making the slides again.

So an entirely abnormal but fruitful day ended with us reaching our home at 11 in the night all exhausted but glad.

As far as the presentation is concerned, am sure none of my juniors must have followed all the mathematical mumbo jumbo that we spoke today.

Total tp...

For the past few days am racking my brain as to what to write about.

Went through all my previous blogs and trust me am baffled that how in the world did I write all those serious things.

You write the best when you have got nothing else to do (meaning you are all time bored with nothing constructive to do) or when writing is the only medium to vent out your charged emotions.

Off coz the blogs that I have written to do away with negative feelings are the ones that actually elude me.

So where was I, yup what’s up with me?

Well nothing much, just adapting to new changes in my life, doing time pass, basically having a jolly good time.

Not that this is any different from my usual days but yes the change that’s going on now is a good change for a change; because as I said before I hate changes but that’s the only thing that is constant.

Recently a close friend of mine gifted me a special book by the name The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.

It’s simple but a powerful story of journey of two people as different as you can get yet bonded by a bond which goes beyond the bond of blood.

The language is at its simplest form but the words provoke you to think beyond what is implied.

Subtlety at its best; that’s the best way I can put it.

On one hand you have got Amir who has got everything that a materialistic world can provide him with and you have Hassan, poverty slapped onto his face yet has got everything.

But some how Amir is the one you can relate with and Hassan some one whom you can idolize.

The story begins with these two people sharing a curious bond with no name, set in the time when Afghanistan was obscured from the world map because of its normality.

Through this book you get to know a beautiful world which once existed in Afghan before it was ravaged by one and all.

It makes you realize what we have lost due to our human errors.

The pulsating culture, the pride, the exquisite cuisine, the scenic beauty, the action packed kite running etc that existed in Afghan once upon time has been beautifully put down.

Between all these intrinsic details you have got our lead pair living a life at its innocent best.

T++ alliance group

Jan 7th was the day when our crazy dance troop aka T++ alliance group was formed.

Am still trying to work out as to how in the world did we convince people like Aditya to dance that to on crazy numbers.

Because believe me even hard core dancers will think twice before agreeing to scheme that we had formulated.

Ok did I just say we naaa let me correct that, the creator of the whole concept was the one and only Nishant Prabhu, no one else will even think of presenting such an idea to a group who are all in there final year engineering .

Ok enough of jargon let me get straight into what he came up at the end of the day.

We had people coming in blazers and all and dancing to the tunes of nache re mora, girls behaving like dons, guys doing hip hop in lungis and doing out of the world steps in an equally eye popping Tamil song.

But the one routine which won many hearts was guys doing all jhatkas and matkas for Maar Dala song.

After our performance during the elims all the guys in the audience declared that they are ready to turn into gays after seeing Aditya dance.

And sadly for us girls no one was even bothered to have a look at our routines all were to agog to see what next crazy thing are guys gonna come up with.

But one thing I will say I never had so much fun.

Our dance sessions used to be filled with jokes with me screaming at the top of my voice at deaf people.

Our breaks used to be of minimum 2 hours for fear of giving out the wrong signal of dedication.

And like any daily soap opera we had all the turns and twist like robe, nishant and Adish having their interviews scheduled on the actual performance day because of which mid way we scraped the whole dance.

Then thanks to the excellent buttering of Nishant we all agreed to dance at least till the elims and as expected getting selected knowing that we won’t be able to perform on the actual day of performance that is impact day…. convincing the entire PA team to let us perform on the 2nd day of pratibimb.

God but everything was worth it.

The people who were initially skeptical about the dance even they miss the dance, now that it’s over.

Kudos to all the guys for their sporty spirit and us girls for tolerating them he he….

TRICAL TURLY ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
